As I sit here in the silence, bathed in the soft glow of my laptop screen, a wave of celebration is circumnavigating the globe. From Australia to Europe, the Far East to North America, people are welcoming in the New Year. Although I am alone, as I have been for many ‘Eves’ now, I am more at peace with myself than I can remember. I can say that life is good and can feel the truth of that resonate to my very center.
The turning of a year provides those who would wish to take it with the opportunity to take a look back before moving forward. From a spiritual growth perspective, it is a valuable exercise. So perhaps before you head out, take some time to do a mental review of your 2011. What went well for you? What didn’t go so well for you? Think of the people who lifted you up or helped you on your life path. And don’t overlook some of your most important teachers: the people in your life who challenge you. Whoever they are, they are the ones who provide you with the greatest opportunity to learn and grow. Give thanks to all of these people, for all of these things, for they have enriched your life experience.
New Year’s Eve marks the energetic closing of one door and the opening of another. It is an excellent time to set your clear intention for the next 12 months. In this in-between time, it is as if the energy of unlimited potential is waiting to be accessed. This living field is activated by the vibration of your intention.
So just take a few moments right now to quiet yourself. Take a few deep breaths (in through your nose and out through your mouth). Calm your thoughts and focus on what it is your heart desires to experience in 2012.
Setting your intention is like establishing an energetic pathway along which the events and circumstances that will lead to the experience can flow. Then all you have to do is follow the promptings of your inner guidance system; always keeping in mind that the more you try to drive the bus, the higher the likelihood you’ll end up on a different route! Our intellect can be the greatest obstacle to the success of following your guidance, so just be aware of that as you work with this.
My intention for 2012 is to continue to learn and grow and share what I know, and to continue to post those things here.
The path you take is made by walking it.
